Microvision approached us with a problem: many first time users did not know how to correctly use their new Flic Bar Code Scanner. They wanted to add instructions on the product that would communicate the key use sequence.
After exploring several possible solutions, the proposed designs went through an iterative process of user testing and design modifications. The final solution incorporated a permanent back label and a removable front label that clearly communicated an audio "Beep" equaled success. The results: a 75% success rate with first time users. Designed while at Karo Design.
